Are you in the priciest office market?

Is your business ready to expand its presence?  Do you want to explore global business opportunities?  If you are targeting any of the top business capitals around the world, be prepared to pay top dollar for your office space as the rates in the central business districts are up.

Cushman and Wakefield has recently released its list of the 10 most expensive office districts in the world for 2011.  While the cities on the list are not a surprise, the rise of some cities, particularly Rio de Janeiro in Brazil suggests emerging markets will continue to transform the global economy.

The growing importance of Brazil has propelled Rio de Janeiro ahead of Manhattan to earn the title of “The city with the most expensive office space in the Americas.”  On average, businesses will pay $115 per square foot per year for a midtown office in New York, which ranked fifth on the list.  Rio de Janeiro took the fourth spot and businesses can expect to pay $120 per square foot per year in Rio.  Globally, Hong Kong ranks number one in terms of cost followed by Tokyo (#2) and London (#3).
